If you want to hear Old English, look for recitations of Beowulf.

In the wake of the Norman Conquest of 1066 onward, everything connected to the English nation and its culture were suppressed especially the language, literature, and flags. French became the language of everyday life.... Not until the reign of Henry VIII was it in more general use across the country.
